I am now registered for the Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 26th!  I'll be using Jeff Galloway's 6 month marathon training program for beginners.  I'm excited!

Today was the first long run of the training program.  It was 3 miles, which is what I've been running anyway since finishing c25k.  Next week's long run will be 4 miles.

Good luck with it, and keep us up-to-date with your progress.

Be careful with injuries, and see medical people straight away when needed. Your physio will become your new best friend.

I'm 2 weeks from my next marathon and pulled a hamstring last week. Not happy at the moment.

Knoddie, how's the hamstring?  Hopefully you are recovering quickly.

Thanks for asking Danielle. The news isn't good. I have had to pull out of the marathon, and am currently doing rehab for the hamstring. Just cycling at the moment...but on Saturday I get to run 1km!

Now targetting another marathon in 8 weeks time.

Congrats on the 5-mile run, by the way, jadams.  Checked out your run.  Very cool to see all the stats like that.  Considering I am still using a cheapo sport watch to time my runs, the new technology still amazes me.

Week 4 of training, today was a 6 mile long run.  So far so good with the training program, we'll see how things go as the mileage gets bigger, lol

Here's a link to my run:

Just finished my 7 mile long run. I need to figure out a way to stay hydrated. I run out in the country with no places to stop for a drink. I just carried a water bottle with me today, though I'll probably need more than just one bottle when my long runs start to get longer. Any ideas?

I use a Camelbak type hydration pack thing. I also have a fuel belt, but that bounces too much for my liking.

Today's 3 mile maintenance run marked my 50th mile since getting my forerunner 405 on May 18th! I know that I've ran more miles than that with 2 months of couch to 5k and then 1 month or so of unrecorded running after that, but it's cool to see it on all add up in nice graph form, lol.

My next long run is 9 miles, I may have to find a new running route soon though, as the Mississippi river will probably be flooded over my current route within the next few weeks...anyone want to come help fill sandbags?? =)

Completed my 10 mile long run today! 10.16 miles in 2 hours 5 min.
As feared, my normal running route is now underwater, so I had to find a new one. I didn't realize how many rolling hills (and some of them steep!) were on this new route. My legs are really killing me right now, I hope I didn't over do it...

Anyway, you can view my run here (you can see how I faded out quickly near the end of the run, those hills did me in!)

12 miles down today! This was my first experience in using energy gels during my run, I tried a PowerBar gel, not great tasting, but it seemed to do the trick and help me crank out the last 4 miles. Anybody got a favorite brand for me to try?

Here's my run (slow and steady!):  http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6114122
(the stop between miles 8 and 9 is when the sherrif was passing by and stopped to see if I wanted a ride back into town, as it was raining pretty hard. I figured that I wasn't going to get anymore wet than I already was, and I really wanted to finish, so I didn't take him up on his offer..lol)
