Are there Robert Ullrey's podcasts for 5K-10K?
Reply Quote

Hello,

I'm in week 6 of C25K.  My goal is to run a 10K after I finish this program. On the podcast download page, Robert talks of a 5K-10K podcast in the future.  Is there going to be a 5K-10K? It looks like this program was set up in 2006, so just wondering if anyone knew.

Paige

Never seen one. I thought about making one too based on Hal Higdon's Novice 10K program.

BUT - it's not 'interval training' (run/walk) so just selecting tracks you like for the length of time you want to run is good enough.

The only thing a voice-over could add is encouragement, and giving status on the run (halfway done, etc.) However, since it's done on distance, and MP3's are measured on time, there's no way to tell you if you are halfway done.

THe Nike+, I believe, DOES tell you how far you've travelled, or how close you are to complete with your run. The Garmin Forerunners (Dunno if Nike+ has this) can alarm you if your pace drops below/above certain target rates you set.

With a Heart-Rate Monitor, they can also alarm you if your target heart-rate isn't being reached or if you're pushing too hard.

Using the www.mapmyrun.com website, you can map a route to run with the distance calculated, and mile markers shown. So as you work towards 10K, your map will have 6 markers. If you can mentally mark off where those are, a standard lapping stopwatch can help you mark laps and check your pace.

That's the 'cheap way out' I've used to get my pace without a Garmin or Nike+.

I still listen to music while running, but I can listen to whatever, and when I've reached my distance I walk.

Thanks for the info.

I guess I just figured it would be like these last few weeks.  Just encouragement and letting you know how far along you were in the run.  Maybe I'll just miss his familiar voice LOL ;-)
