Going from time to distance, or swapping between both?

So far i've been using the Robert Ullrey (sp?) podcasts to do my runs. I've got one W6D2 to go then it's just long runs.
Although having the podcasts have got me further than i'd ever have gotten if i'd just been doing distances/timing it myself i'd like to listen to my own music.
I also mapped my 20 minute run and it was about 1.7miles, so not quite the 2 miles.
I was thinging of maybe doing d1 of the following weeks as a timed run, d2 as a distance run then d3 trying to combine the 2 so I can get up to the 5k in 30 minutes.
Does this sound sensible/do-able?
Do you worry about distance when your completing your C25K program?

I didn't worry about distance. I worked on time and only recently did 5K. It took me much longer than 30 minutes, but I'll get faster. I would just have my music the timer set on my HRM so I knew when to stop.
I am actually doing a distance program now because I am entering a 9K in September and I need to know that I can complete the distance. The time based program that is on the event's website would have served me well.... for about 7km... then I would have been in new territory. I won't complete a 9k in 70 minutes, so I thought it better for me to train towards the distance and work on times later.
Good luck, Kylie
