Original C25k post
C25k graduation thread

So i started on W2 of OHR today. Basically there's a 10km funrun/race in 9 weeks that i'm thinking of giving a go, so if i started W1, i'd miss out running an hour in preparation by a week. Also the last week of C25k is the same as the 1st of OHR, so i've just "over-lapped" them.

Today was a much better run than my last day of C25k (last week of c25k progress thread http://c25k.com/forum/forums/12380/ShowPost.aspx), still had to really push myself the last 500m or so. But managed 29mins 10sec. Stoaked.

My original thought was to make 5k on about the 9th 30min run in OHR, but did it earlier, so will just see how far past 5k i can get in 30mins from now on.

Getting a Nike+ to track runs, wish it'd hurry up and get here :/

Just completed W3D2 of OHR.

So far so good. Got my Nike+ and running 5k workouts and going a bit longer if i beat 30mins, PB so far is 28., but mostly around 30mins for the 5k.

Today was an off day though, i had a really great 1st half anf a really horrible 2nd half. Not sure why, probably a mental thing.

Why is it that one thing is always a problem? Maybe it's calves, but it not, then knees, if not, lungs, if not, heart, if not, need toilet half way... but never more than one thing at a time!? Anyone else get that? looking forward to he run that clicks and none of those happen....

Dan, keep up the good work. I understand on getting them all to click. Good luck with that! I too was thinking about doing the OHR program. I was trying to figure out where to start it since I've been doing 30 minute runs for about a month now. (Give or take those really bad runs that I just go home and sulk....) I did 32 this AM. Not quite 5k since I had crazy dog with me. (she's slow!)

>_<

Had my 1st day of official "more than 30 mins" target. No problem, i've done longer runs before.

Went back to basics and ran slowwwww (been doing sub 30min 5km {27.42pb}). Ended up feeling really good, and going for maybe 43-44 minutes for 7km.

Then my bloody Nike+ didn't work and i lost my run, no showing up in my history or syncing to the site, but it is logged on the ipod as longest run 7km??

>_<

Stupid technology! oh well, trying to think positive as i know i did my run, just a shame not to have it there towering over my other runs on my graphs. GAH.

Dan

So i'm on Week somethingerather. Timetables on the fridge at home, i'm at work.

Decided to round each run UP to the nearest 5mins (nike+ timing changes in 5 min blocks). Make it a bit harder, but spend a bit longer on each "level"

I think, 3 weeks of 30/35/40, then 2 of 30/40/50 then a final 30/45/60 is how it worked out.

Then i got a competition with some mates on the fastest 5k by the end of August (using nike+), so will go hammer myself for a 5k once i can run an hour. One of them is a freak though and ran a 21min 5km on his second attempt... I don't think i'll top that.

Wowzers...

So i went from this...

I had my worst run of the lot on Sunday since starting running (bar W1D1 of C25K, and that 10min run/5min walk/10 min run somewhere about W5 of C25k). I had been having a few tough runs leading up to it, getting stitches and sore hips o_O. And on Sunday it had culminated in the worst. NO injury or any thing, just a low motivation, heavy legs, had to stop running (for the 1st time in 8 weeks {W6 of C25k}), one of those sort of runs. Also i forgot to take my Nike+, so my run was not being recorded or contributing to any of the challenges i have going with my mates, so that sapped some of the motivation too.

To this...

I got up this morning (Tues), at my usual favourite early morning run time (Sunday had been 10am, i'm normally out there 530am, so the heat may have had something to do with it on sunday.)

My OHRW6D1 schedual said to do 30mins, no worries (35min and 45mins later in the week).

Hit the cycle path and ran at a comfortable pace, quicker than i have been running recently as i thought maybe my other runs were too slow (maybe contributing to soreness and stiches). Hit the 2.5 km mark where i'd ususally turn back on a 30 min run, but thought, hey, i didn't really do my long run from last week, so i kept going, thinking i'd turn at 3km. Also i didn't have to be at work at the usual time, so there was no hurry to get it done!

Kept running

Eventually got to 5k in a PB  (25min 28sec), now i'm 5k from home, nothing left to do but run back. Slowed my pace a bit and returned the 10k trip in 53'51!

Gonna stick to the rest of the OHR program as this is probably just one of those freak good runs that wont happen to often, but damn i'm happy right now.

2 weeks to go on OHR, then what? not sure yet...

Thought i'd share my nike+ graph again as i've noticed a pretty cool trend (have drawn it on in blue). Apart from that week where i ran 10k, you can clearly see the upward improvment (note that there's a couple of runs missin early on from OHR schedual).

Check it!

So had a weigh in with my nutritionalist this morning...

Heaviest ever - 99kg
Start C25k - 96kg
End C25k - 90.5 kg
Currently (4 runs left in OHR) - 82.5kg

Zing! she said i'm now in the official healthy weight range for my height!

So on the last week... Have got myself off-set with my usual running days dammit.  Bit of a lazy wekeend on the running stakes.

We're also moving house this weekend, and should be due for my hour run either the morning we move, or the morning after.

So thinking that might not happen this weekend, as running before having to lift the refrigerator, washing machine, beds, couch etc might lead to droppage, and running after might be just too hard.

Bit sad to be moving, as i'll be leaving behind the old route that served me so well on C25k and OHR :'( good bye old friend.Might have to go for a few drives to run it for old times sake. On the flip side we're moving closer to a board walk alongside the river type location, so that should be good!

T-minus 5 hrs to graduation
Reply Quote
So will be graduating OHR tonight (if all goes according to plan). On the second to last run, i went for 10km in 59 mins, so have run 10k twice now, so feeling pretty confident i can do it.

We've moved house though so i wont be doing it on my old faithful track, this could be a good/bad thing not knowing exactly where i am in relation to all previous runs.

It's a 10km run home from work (so will be running in arvo rather than my ususal morning run), 80% along bike paths, parks, & riverside boardwalks. Should be quite pleasent and take my mind off the PAIN. LoL.

After grad, i'm going to try keep it up and run Tues morns (short run), Wed after work (long run), Fri morns (short run), with a long run in the weekends if time and feelings permit. Will try and make an effort for the long runs and drive somewhere nice and new and not have any specific goal (but upping the mileage on all every month or so).
