Has your weight loss slowed once you started C25K?
Reply Quote
Hi all,

just starting the program but wanted to know if anyone has experienced a stall in weight loss once they started C25K?

If so, did you do anything to kickstart your losing? Perhaps eating different foods?

thanks!

My Weight loss had plateaued around last October,  at that time Id lost about 20kg ( with no exercise), and nothing would budge.

I started C25k at the beginning of Nov 08, about 3 weeks into it, the weight really started to move..... quicker than it had in the previous months.  Its only the last couple of months that its really slowed down again, but thats ok now since Im at goal weight.

For me, C25K helped with loss of weight...

Thanks Kitty!

I was on WW a few years back and lost over 50 lbs with no exercising at all.

As with most of my dieting, the weight slowly started to creep back and recently I've started losing again - much more slowly and just eating more healthy etc.

When I told a friend that I was going to start running she said that my weight will likely plateau or go up!

So as much as I'm doing this to get healthy, get moving and be more active for myself and my kids, I do want to see the weight fall off ....

thanks for you post.

I'm trying to shed a few pounds (going from 170 to 160) and ever since starting running, cycling, and the elliptical, my weight loss has pretty much stagnated.

It was sort of depressing at first for me, but I completely forget about the scale when I look in the mirror and notice my newly found leg muscles.

Really does make sense; just losing fat while I'm putting on leg muscle.

Pay attention to your legs (thighs mostly, you'll be amazed how much muscle and how little fat now resides there--at least in my experience D:)

Heck yeah it slowed!!  I started Weight Watchers and lost 18 pounds my first month.  Since starting C25K my weight loss has completely dropped off.  In the last 4 weeks, I only managed to lose 6.9 pounds.  I posted in another thread about this and how depressing it was.  I have been taking pics of myself every 4 weeks of my weight loss journey to see if I can SEE a difference.

I will admit that, although the scale isn't showing much of a loss, the recent pics of my progress tell a much different story - at least to me.  I took some pics on Monday that I hadn't got around to processing and compared them to some that I took 4 weeks ago and I am pleasantly surprised at the difference that 6.9 pounds plus all the exercise has made in the way I look.

The difference is HUGE!  No pun intended.  You should post those somnwhere and have people guess how much weight you lost, I bet they would guess somewhere between 20-30 lbs!  As for me, I've dropped over 20 lbs since starting C25k among other activities.

Just a run down of mine,

Started at: 98kg (216lb)
Start week 5: 94kg (207lb)
Start week 7 See dietitian: 96kg (277lb) Cue change of diet.
End week 9 See dietitian: 90.5kg (199 lb) and 4cm (1.5i) off the waist :/

Took a change in diet (for other reasons than weight loss, have high cholesterol) for me to make significant gains.

YES!!! My weight loss has definetly SLOWED ( stopped ). But my clothes are feeling looser and I feel thinner...so that makes it worth it. I think I will take some pics and start using the tape measure as well....because visual feedback does help to keep me motivated.

After reading Bob's post (and checking out his amazing weight loss pics) I dug out the measurements I took 8 weeks ago when I started C25K and then remeasured.  I was stunned.  I lost a full inch off my hips, 3 inches off my waist (!!!), and an inch each off my thighs, bust and upper arms.

Feeling better about myself tonight.........................Big Smile [:D]
