ipod app with half-way notice?
|
|
|
|
|
Hi all!
Starting C25K again after a break and I know I read somewhere about an ipod app I could download that not only had music and timed intervals, but also gave a notice of when you were half way done so you could turn around and go back.
Does anyone know where I can find this? Has anyone tried it, and if so, did did you like it?
Right now I'm using DJ Beatsmith from itunes and like the music and beat, but as I progress, I'd like to know when to turn around and go back.
Thanks!

I used "C25K" by Alex Stankovic. It's $2.99 in the app store. You use your own music with it and it chimes, vibrates and speaks when it's time to run or walk. You can turn halfway and last run alerts on and off. I'm actually not using it anymore since I'm on W9, which is all continuous runs, but I really liked using it for the interval training because it meant not having to pay attention to my watch - I could just run or walk and listen to music.

Yes, I used that app to complete the program as well. Fantastic early on when there is a lot of switching between walking and running. You don't have to stare at the treadmill or watch and you can listen to your music while the app is running.

Yep i used one. Get it, absolutely brilliant. Can concentrate on just running until the man says stop. I know if i was looking at a watch, i would've given up on more occasions...

I love this app as well. I've noticed a few minor glitches in it (sometimes it makes songs repeat or skips over a track) but nothing that isn't easily outweighed by how awesome it is to not have to look at a watch or set some other alarms!
I got it free on PandoraBox... it's worth watching to see if/when it goes on sale again, although it's totally worth the 2.99 price.

Yep the one I use on my iphone has halfway and "1 minute to go" messages. There is no way I could do this by just checking the clock. Well worth the money, if you've paid $100+ dollars for shoes you might as well spend an extra couple of bucks to help you stay motivated to get your money's worth out of them.
You can use your own tunes, but I run in silence. I like to listen to the beat of my feet.

Nah, with a nano, you're best off going with the podcasts. The apps are touch/iPhone only.

I'm using the Nike+ app that comes with the iPhone 3GS and is available for the iPod Nano. It works with Nike+ shoes and when you set it for a timed workout, tells you when the time 1/4 completed, 1/2 completed, and then tells you when you have 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 minute left. I haven't used it for distance but it probably has a similar voice prompt.
It works with your music and when you're done you can upload your data to nikerunning.com, or not.

On Iphone/Ipod touch, you can use the Nike+ application along with the C25k app. Just launch the Nike+, select 'none' for music, then begin the workout. Hit the home button and launch C25k and run it like normal. That way you can use the C25k for the queue's and the Nike+ to track your overall run.
