For girls only!!! Running during your period...
Reply Quote
Do you find it hard to run during your period? I have finished the program and consistently run 3.1 miles. But the week of my period I can only run about 1 mile! Pretty big difference! I do take vitamins, but maybe need to add some iron in. But it's not so much I'm tired, it's more I have trouble breathing that week.

Just would like to know, if other woman find it more difficult as well...

Thanks!

I guess I don't think I've had that problem.  In fact, I just finished the program today with that affliction.  Stick out tongue [:P]

Have you had that happen more than once?  If it was just once, maybe it was just a coincidence that it happened during your period.

Next up: More 5k running!

Nope. I'm actually the opposite on my period.  Feel like I can keep going and going.  I want to say I've read studies that physical performance is best during your period.  Don't know where or when I read that, but I did somewhere.  Now if that's true I don't know, but it's held true for me.

I wouldn't worry about it.  If your iron is fine then I wouldn't be too concerned.

I actually feel my best (most fit, strongest, high endurance) during the last half of my period until about a week after ovulation. Then I start feeling nasty PMS symptoms and I'm so bloated during the first couple of days of my period that it's hard to even move. However, I do feel better after I run; it seems to help with cramps and bloating.

Graduated! Now on to even more!

Today was the last day of week 4 in the program for me, and I definitely had that problem. I didn't have any trouble finishing my runs on the first two days, but today, after just starting my period, I felt tired and weak, and I had a little trouble breathing, too. I managed to finish my run, but I felt a little nauseated afterwards. And it did not alleviate my cramps.
