Thank you for the encouragement everyone. I will finish this program, if it takes me 6 months. I will slow down some and see if that helps with the fatigue and breathing. Tomorrow's another day, but I kinda feel like running today. My muscles aren't sore today. Maybe something not quite as challenging as the week 4 workout? Does anyone else here run on there off days also?

I decided to go for a leisurely bike ride instead of the walk. I rode 5 miles or so.  I am looking forward to the challenge tomorrow.

Week 4 Day 2 Today: A good hard challenge. I slowed things down today some to help not get soo burned out. It definitely helped out. My breathing was in control. I did have some soreness in the calf muscles but I toughed through it. The last 5 minute interval seemed to drag on forever and I walked about a 45 seconds of it. Better than the last workout though. I look back to week one and see the progress and thats what pushes me forward. Just last week I hated doing the 3 minute runs, and now I look forward to them. This program was planned out really well IMO. I think tomorrow I will take the entire day off from exercise and rest for my 4th of July Week 4 Day 3 extravaganza run.

Week 4 Day 3:  Well I was supposed to run yesterday but just didn't have time with family in for the 4th. Oh happy late 4th everyone. So I went to run this morning through the botanical gardens. It was one of those runs. Just a perfect day. Not hot at all, a slight breeze. Looked like rain actually. I was able to complete all the intervals with mild struggle in the end. At the end of the run I was still a good ways from the car so I decided to restart the podcast and run another interval. I walked for 2:30 seconds and did one more 6 minute run. I was super happy with today's workout. Maybe I am going over that week 4 milestone. On to Week 5. I am excited.

Week 5 day 1: What a day. I went to run with my girlfriend this evening who had been sick all last week. So she skipped week 4 and ran week 5 day 1 with me. We started running and she smoked me. Running faster the entire course. My run was just off tonight. I had soreness in the first 5 minute interval and it slowed me down. I did run the entire 3 x 5 minute intervals though. It was just a blow to the confidence that someone skipped a week and did better than me. I'll do better on the next one.

I guess I missed the post where this was a contest....(grin) There's a reason for not skipping weeks, and I don't think it is to prolong the agony.
Seriously, I have confidence you will do better on the next run. Personally, I don't know how you could run with someone - I would never be able to match pace and it would make me crazy.

Yeah, I guess I was just getting somewhat competitive. My mind was just thrown off today. Next Run will be better.

Ok Week 5 day 2:  We decided to run this one at night because its so nice out tonight. We stretched and started out run.... and about 4 minutes into the first interval the back of my calves start hurting. I slowed my pace some and pushed forward. Ran the  full running intervals. At the last 30 seconds or so I picked up my speed to 8.2 for a strong finish. It felt good to open up like that in the end. Next weeks the 20 minute test run. Looking forward to it but kinda worried at the same time.

OMG.... We ran 20 minutes. It was tough and super humid. The sides of my shins hurt a little. Went to Trader Joes after the run, and my girlfriend noticed somewhere along the way I had a bloody nose. No explanation for it?? Off to week 6.

Congrats on the 20 minutes... but hope the bloody nose doesn't become a frequent occurrence!

Well its been a few weeks since I've updated this page. I have still been running. I am running 30 minutes straight now, and me and my girlfriend are running our first 5k this Saturday. Nervous but excited. Its the Surfer's Healing 5k. Its been a long journey and I plan on continuing to the 8k training next. I will let you know how the 5k goes also.

Ran 3 miles last night off and on. I am not sore today which is good. I didn't want to push myself too hard last night because I am running my first 5k tomorrow. Lately, I have been struggling to run the entire course, hopefully the 5k will be better. Maybe the motivation of all the people will help me through it. Come a long way.
