W1D1= impending death

I'm just wondering if running is meant to be THIS hard?
I felt like I was dying after the first three 60 second runs, and after I'd finished my eyes & nose were streaming and I felt like I was going to throw up.
I did wear skinny jeans and ran without eating beforehand, I guess this wasn't the greatest thing to do.
I've been pretty much sedentary for a year, so maybe I should be starting off easier? Or maybe I'm just being a big wimp?
I've only just finished the first and already I'm dreading the next run. I've read some people actually ENJOYED their first run? It's torture I tell ya.
I'll try my best to get through the second run, as much as I don't want to.
I apologise if this is a bit self-indulgent of me, but you all told me running was fun :(

epi, I don't think it got fun until I was well into the program. I struggled with the first week and was sore.
If you really struggled that much, I would slow down next time. Speed will come over time. No need to push it too hard. If you are just coming up off the couch, your body will need time to adjust. Less restrictive exercise clothing and decent running shoes are, in my opinion, rather important. The shoes, in particular, can help you dodge injury later on.
I wouldn't eat right beforehand, but drinking some water is a good idea.
Next up: More 5k running!

Yeah, I think I'm definitely just being a big whiny baby about having to work at something :)
I do feel better for exercising though. Just hope my body will ease into it soon.

Eve,
You did great. I can't begin to tell you how many times during the first three weeks that I ended up a big snotty mess on the pavement. But the one thing that always got me through it was the knowledge that I was taking positive action to change my life for the better. No longer was I the guy who was all mouth and no pants. I set myself a goal and I achieved it. The power of that knowledge is awesome.
You spoke and you did. That is something to be very proud of. None of us are expert runners and we've all made mistakes. That is the beauty of this forum: we share our successes and setbacks and we give our support. No one ever said it would be easy, they just said it could be done.
Always remember, what you give you get to keep forever; what you fail to give, you can never get back.
Gary
