Okay to run more than 3 times a week?

I know you're not recommended to do more than the program says, but would it really hurt to run 4-5 times a week instead of 3?

I'm trying to lose weight and tone up, and I really don't feel like I'm working hard enough by only running 3 times a week.
I feel especially lazy when I take two days away from running, like at the weekend.

It would really hurt...because within a few weeks you will get injured, and then you could be back on the couch for months.

The recovery days are as important as the running days, especially for a beginner runner.

Do something else on your off days...swim, cyle or even walk.

Nope, wouldn't suggest it.  Those repair days are important.  Do some cross training inbetween, but let the legs rest.  You'll burn out or injure yourself.  You need to pace yourself and the weight and toning will only come so fast anyways, kwim?
