Week 1 - Day 2 tomorrow! :)

I just stumbled across this forum and think its a great find. I'm a 24 yr old female, I'm barely 5'1, a smoker, probably a little over 130lbs (my scale is never reliable) and out of shape. I have been wanting to get my lazy butt in gear for some time now and either lacked the motivation or the dedication to actually follow through. I think the C25K program might be the ticket for me though! I have been wanting to get in shape, loose weight, and quit smoking and I think this program will motivate me to do all three. I've never been a heavy smoker, maybe a pack every two/three days but I know they've gotta go! I'm thinking quitting smoking will be my biggest undertaking, more so then sticking to the program, but it seems foolish to try to undertake one without the other. I spent last week trying to cut back as much as possible, most days I cut back to 2 a day and I made sure that I walked 3 miles, 3 days last week. Yesterday I completed Day 1 of Week 1 with the RU podcast by my side and hated the one cigarette that I did smoke so much that I didn't even finish it, that didn't keep me from craving them however. I loved the way I felt when I completed my training yesterday and can't wait for tomorrow so I can get day 2 under my belt.
I just wanted to post mostly to introduce myself as well as ask for any tips or guidance anyone might care to offer. One of my thoughts was to walk on the rest days, I understand how important the rest days are but I thought that if I walked the 3 miles on those days off it would be that much better for me and keep me on task. If anyone has any thoughts or cautions on this thought please advise. :) Thank you!

Well done for making the effort to change your life, and welcome to the forum.
The smokes will go if you're serious about running. You'll reach a point where it has to be one or the other. I was lucky in that I quit before I started running, but it's a powerful motivator to never smoke again.
Good luck with the programme. Keep us up to date with your progress. Gary

Welcome to running. I Hope you stick with it it seems like a great program. I personaly would not walk on your off days in the begining to give your body time to repair itself. But once you start getting in shape I can't see how it would hurt. As far as the smoking you don't need to hear what you allready know. Good Luck
