Signed up for 5K at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon
Reply Quote
I just signed up for the 5k race at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on September 28.

That happens to be 2 days after I finish the complete C25K program. Hows that for timing?

Being it's a large marathon there will be a Running Expo, food and massages etc. It should be fun.

I'm really looking forward to it, and it adds further motivation to continue on the planned schedule.

Keep Running!
Cheers

It's a pretty cool thing isn't it? Actually running in a road race. I'm wishing you all the best in the race and very much looking forward to hearing about your experience.

Sounds great Batman. Just the thing to keep you going, though you have been doing so well anyway.
If someone had told you a couple of months ago that you would be doing this, would you have believed it?
Can't wait to read all about it!

No kidding Muppet. I think what I appreciate most about the program is the structure. It prevents you from doing too much, too soon and therefore lessens the chance of injury. It also gives you regular targets which I find make achieving anything easier. If one was to just start running without this type of plan it would simply be too easy to quit, go to fast, get injures or even get bored. I'm certain I'll pick another plan to work on as soon as this one is done.

Thanks to both of  you for the kind wishes.

Keep Running!
Cheers

Well done on a brave decision Batman,

You'll do really well and it will, hopefully, be the perfect event to keep you motivated beyond C25K.

Good luck, Batman!
That's exciting.
I know when I ran my first and second races I was standing there at the starting line thinking "Wow, I guess I really am a RUNNER now!"  Well, I wasn't right at the starting line.  I lined up back behind the runners that looked fast, but in front of the walkers!

It's interesting because it is very different than running on your own.  It sounds like your event is going to be well attended.  The first minute or two will be especially odd since everyone is getting up to speed and working out where in the pack they should be running.

Next up: More 5k running!
