I was doing Robert Ullrey's podcast, found a nice C25k podcast at runningintoshape.com thanks to someone who posted above. :)
When I am a runner instead of trying to be one. I love me some Linkin Park. I like a lot of upbeat modern rock, also some rap/hip hop. A little Britney is good. I have a pretty wide range of taste in music but whatever it is it has to be high in bpm to keep me going fast!

This is my first post but this thread got my attention because music is very important to me when I'm doing any kind of workout.
I like to listen to a lot of different things when I'm running. Everything from "The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A" by Exodus to the song "Chick Habit" as covered by April March. I'm not really one for mainstream music no matter what, but that doesn't limit my choices at all since there is just SO much music out there.
Here's just a few of my favorite songs for running:
"Children of a Worthless God" - Exodus "Electric Worry" - Clutch "Scumgrief (Deep Dub Trauma Mix)" - Fear Factory "Prehistoric Dog" - Red Fang "Rumors of War" - High on Fire "Falling to Pieces" - Faith No More "Digging the Grave" - Faith No More
I could sit here all day listing these now that I think of it. haha. These are mainly metal / hard rock type songs but that's generally what gets the adrenaline pumping for me.

I took a slightly different approach today. No metal at all, really. But the songs I did choose were awesome for this.
"El Mañana" - Gorillaz "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen "Feel Good Inc." - Gorillaz "Dare" - Gorillaz "Under Pressure" - David Bowie & Queen "Flight of the Demoiselles" - Blackline
Pretty normal after that.
"Digging the Grave" - Faith No More "Falling to Pieces" - Faith No More
Lots of Gorillaz, but those songs really move.

herr, your second playlist is way more my speed, but i can totally see how metal would get you going.
i started off with podrunner, then switched to listening to my lily allen pandora station (adele, amy winehouse, kate nash - pissed off british chicks, basically!), and that works best for me so far. the songs make me laugh or want to sing along.
i like to listen to reggae with my yoga practice, and tried it out on my last run. FAIL. not so good. also, made me want to do backbends instead of run. back to lily allen today for W5D3 for sure!

I'm typically a spiritual person, so I usually listen to Christian music. However, as uplifting as the music can be, I have to honestly say that it hasn't provided me with the adrenaline I hoped it would. I'm going to try to go with some Creed, Alterbridge or something. I also considered listening to Metallica (I know, it is a completely different side of the spectrum compared to Christian music), but Metallica seems to energize me. Maybe the anger in the music builds up adrenaline. That's certainly not a scientific answer, but that's my theory none the less.

ya know, all the spite and angst and anger in my above-mentioned british favorites might be what's fueling my runs, too. you may be on to something there, vet!! :-)

Ha! Christina Aguilera's Candyman gets me through. As does Rob Thomas' "This is how a heart breaks", also "Addicted to Bass"...

the blue album is one of my all-time favorites, and definitely a great running choice!

I started off trying to work out what to listen to and after seeing what Robert did I decided to create my own play list and I yelled the verbal cues at myself and plugged them into my own play list cosisting of Pink, Alice cooper and ACDC. this worked so much better for me on my second attempt at W1D1 that I actually made it where as on my first attempt I fell short by 2 runs.
